I. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
§ Before submission of the online Application Form, the candidate should read this notification carefully.
§ On behalf of UGC, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal (MTWU), Tamil Nadu announces holding of the State Eligibility Test (TNSET-2016) on 21.02.2016 (SUNDAY) for determining the eligibility for Assistant Professor in Tamil Nadu universities and colleges. MTWU will conduct TNSET-2016 in 25 subjects at 16 selected Centres of Examination spread across the state.
§ Candidates who qualify the TNSET- 2016 are governed by the recruitment rules and regulations stipulated for theAssistant Professors of concerned Universities / Colleges / Institutions (Government/ Aided /Private) of Tamil Nadu State.
§ The result of the TNSET-2016 examination to be held on 21.02.2016 will be made available on the websites: www.setexam2016.in as and when it is declared. The candidate will not be individually intimated abouttheir result.
§ Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/Persons with Disability(PWD)/Most Backward
Classes(MBC)/Denotified Communities (DNC),Backward Classes as per the list of Government of Tamil Nadu website: www.tnpsc.gov.in/communities-list.
II. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:
1. Candidates who have secured at least 55% of marks (without rounding off) for General category and 50%for Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes (MBC) / Denotified Communities (DNC) / Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD-VH/PH), in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities / institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in subjects like Science, Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science &Applications, Electronic science etc., are eligible toappear for this test.
2. Candidates who have appeared (OR) will be appearing at the Master’s Degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited (OR) candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and for those who clear the TNSET- 2016 examination, eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof for having passed the Master’s degree or equivalent examination securing at least 55% marks (without rounding off) for General Category and 50% for Backward Classes/ Most Backward Classes (MBC) / Denotified Communities (DNC) / Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD-VH/PH), within two years from the date of TNSET-2016 examination, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
3. The Ph.D. Degree holders whose Master’s Degree completed on or before 19th September 1991 (irrespective of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks for appearing in TNSET-2016 examination.
4. Candidates shall appearfor TNSET-2016 examination in their relevant subject of their post- graduation only, in case the candidate did not find thesubject of his post graduation in the list of TNSET-2016 subjects, the candidate may appear in UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET which is held twice a year.
5. Candidates other than general category are required to mention their social status in the online application form. Candidates may note that they should satisfy the eligibility conditions with reference to the documents such as PG degree marks sheet and certificates, community certificates and certificates related to PWD (VH/PH) uploaded with their application. Thecommunity certificates submitted by the candidatesmust be issuedby the competent authority. In case their certificate is found to be invalid by the TNSET- 2016 agency at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.
6. Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. The mere fact that an admission card hasbeen issued to a candidate will not imply that the TNSET- 2016 centre has accepted his/her candidature. Candidates may note that candidature will be deemed final only upon verification of eligibility conditions.
III. AGE LIMIT:
There is no upper age limit for applying for TNSET- 2016 examination.
IV. EXAMINATION FEE AND MODE OF PAYMENT:
1. The candidates may pay the examination fee either by credit/ debit card or through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form. In case of e-challan the payment should be made in the SBI. In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit card the additional processing charges as following will also be debited from thecredit/debit card of the candidate along with applicable taxes.
2. After filling all the details for applying online for TNSET-16, the candidate will have the option to select the mode of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form indicating their details therein.
3. The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment at TNSET website (www.setexam2016.in) and if the status is ‘OK’ the candidate will be able to take the printout of Confirmation Page. In case, the fee payment status is not ‘OK’ the candidates are advised as following:-
If the fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in above mentioned bank, the candidate should contact immediately the concernedbank to update his/her fee status on the website.
If the fee ispaid through credit/debit card and status is not OK,it means the transaction is cancelled and the amount will be refunded to concernedcredit/debit card within a week. Such candidates have to pay the fee once again.
Please note that fee submitted by any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be rejected. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Candidate must enter his/her mobile number only while making payment.
V. SCHEME AND DATE OFTEST:
i) The Test will consist of three papers.All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 21.02.2016 (SUNDAY) in three separate sessions as under:

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/researchaptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. 60 (sixty) multiple choice questions of 2 marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50 (fifty). In the event of the candidate attempted more than 50 questions, the first 50 questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.
Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
All the questions of Paper – II and Paper – III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper – I, Paper - II and Paper – III on theOptical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided along with the test booklet.
The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR sheet are given.. It may be noted that these instructions to candidates will not be sent to any of the candidate by post.
VI. PROCEDURE & CRITERIA FOR DECLARATION OF RESULT
This will comprise thefollowing steps for considering a candidate for the eligibility for Assistant Professorship
Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in TNSET- 2016 for considering a candidate for the eligibility forAssistant Professor:
The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and
Paper–III as given below:

Step II: Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.
Step III: Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category),from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared TNSET- 2016 qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only.
It may be noted that the above qualifying criteria decided by TNSET- 2016 is final and binding.
VII. PROVISIONS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY
1. Twenty five minutes compensatory time shall be provided for Paper – I and Paper – II separately. For paper – III, fifty minutes compensatory time shall be provided. These candidates, on their request, will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of thecandidate.
2. The Persons with Disability (Physically Challenged) candidates who are not in a position to write in their own hand-writing can also avail the services of scribe by making prior request (at least one week before the date of TNSET-2016) in writing to the concerned centre Superintendent. Compensatory time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Persons with Disability (Physically Challenged) candidates.
3. The candidate has the discretion of opting for his/her own scribe or has to request the concerned Centre Superintendent for the same inwriting at least one weekin advance of the test. In such instances the candidate is allowed to meet the scribe a day before the examination so as toverify whether the scribe is suitable or not. Those candidates who opt for their own scribe have to produce the scribe beforethe concerned Centre Superintendent along with his/her certificates of educational qualifications at least one daybefore the test.
4. An amount of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. One thousandonly) will be paid to the scribe by the Centre superintendent on the day of examination for all papers.

VIII. ADMISSION CARD
It may be noted that the admission card will be uploaded on the website www.setexam2016.in.No admission cards will be sent to the candidates by post. Thecandidates should download their admission cards from the website to ascertain their venue of the Test as mentioned in the Admission Card and appear in the examination only at the designated examination centre. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination centre other than that allotted to him/her in the admission card.
IX. HOW TO APPLY (APPLICATION HAVE TO BE SUBMITTED ONLINE):
STEPS FOR SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
1. Candidate seeking admission to the Test (TNSET-2016,) must apply online only on the MTWU
website: www.setexam2016.in
2. Before applying Online, the candidates must possess thescanned images as below:-
· Passport size photograph in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 40 kb. The dimension of the photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height).
· Signature in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 30 kb. The dimension of the signature should be 3.5 cm (width) x 1.5 cm (height).
3. After filling all the details for applying online for TNSET- 2016 the candidates have to select
the option of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or throughe-challan generated during the online filling of the application form
4. Thecandidates are required to bring a photo identity card along with their printout of
online admission card on the day of examination.
5. Please note that Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand
Draft, IPOetc. will be summarily rejected.
6. In other to avoid last minute rush, thecandidates are advised to apply early enough.Mother Teresa Women’s University will not be responsible for TNSET-2016 work problems or any other problem of this nature in submission of online application during last days.
X. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. The candidates must read the conditions of eligibility as given carefully and must satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the Test beforefilling the online application Form.
2. Submission of Online Application is mandatory. Hard copies of application form will not be accepted by Mother Teresa Women’s University.
3. Application Formmust be complete in all respects as per the Notification.
4. All incomplete Application Forms will be rejected.
5. Applications submitted on any other format will not be accepted.
6. Printout of online application (Confirmation Page) should be kept by the candidate for further reference.
7. No applications can be submitted after the last date 10.02.2016.
8. The Candidate should note that their candidature is strictly provisional. The mere fact that Admission Card has been issued and the candidate is allowed to appear in the test shall not imply that the University has finally accepted his/her candidature.
9. Mother Teresa Women’s University may change the Centre of examination or date of examination without assigning any reason.
10. It may be noted that the Admission Card will be uploaded on the website
www.setexam2016.in. The candidates are requested to ascertain their venue of the test in the mentioned Admission Card and appear for examination only at the designated examination centre. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination Centre other than that allotted to him/her in theadmission card.
11. The candidates are required to bring a photo identity card also along with their printout of online Admission Card on the day of examination. No candidate will be allowed to appear in the examination whose admission card is not issued by the University.
12. To ensure fair conduct of examination frisking of the candidates will be done properly at main entry gate of the exam Centre. Thecandidates should report at the examination Centre 2 hrs 30 minutes prior to commencement of examination and cooperate with the invigilators in frisking. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination Centre/hall after commencement of examination. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before 10:45
AM in the 1st session, 12:30 PM in the 2nd session and 4:30 p.m. in the 3rd session.
13. All the examination hall/room will have a wall clock so the candidates are not allowed to wear any type of watch in the examination hall/room.
14. Mother Teresa Women’s University will provide a ball point pen to the all the candidates in the
examination hall/room so the candidates are not allowed to carry any type of pen/pencil in the examination hall/room.
15. The use of calculators/Log Tables is not permitted. Mobile phones, pagers, electronic devices, bits of paper, books/note books etc. are not allowed in the Examination Hall/Room. Thecandidate(s) found in possession of any of these items in the examination hall/room will be treated as unfair means and his/her result will not be declared.
16. The candidates have to follow the instructions given by the invigilators in the examination hall/room and should not argue with the invigilators or other staff involved in the examination duty at the examination Centre. The candidates, who will not follow the instructions, will be treated as unfair means and his/her result will not be declared.
17. In the examination hall/room, the candidates will neither talk to each other nor discuss any matter during the examination. The candidates should not disturb the candidates in the examination room and maintain complete silence during the examination. The candidate violating these instructions will be treated as unfair means and his/her result will not be declared.
18. A candidate who does not appear in paper-I, will not be permitted to appear in paper-II and paper-III.
19. Candidates will not be allowed to write any question from the Test Booklet on the Admission
Card or on any other paper.
20. There are no negative marks for incorrect answers.
21. The candidate shall have to return the original OMR Sheetof Paper I, II and III to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall/room. No TA will be paid to the candidates, on accountof appearing at the examination etc.
22. The captured images of response sheets (OMR sheets) of the candidates appeared in TNSET-MTWU 2016and answer keys of all the papers will be displayed on the website www.setexam2016.in (the exact dates will be notified later in the newspapers). The candidates, who are not satisfied with the captured response, may challenge by filling online application formon the website www.setexam2016.in by paying a sum of Rs.1000/- per question The challenge of answer keys will also be accepted online only through the link available on the website www.setexam2016.in on payment of Rs.1000/- per question. The fee canbe paid by credit/debit card or e-challan. In case the challenge of any candidate regarding captured images of response sheets (OMR sheets)/answerkeys is accepted, thefee will be refunded to such candidates. In all other cases the fee once paid will not be refunded. Mother Teresa Women’s University’s decision on the challenges shall be final and the result will be declared on the basis of final answer keys.
23. The marks of all the candidates will be uploaded on Mother Teresa Women’s University website www.setexam2016.in soon after declaration of result. Besides this, Mother Teresa Women’s University will not issue any marks sheet to qualified/non qualified candidates.
24. Further, the candidates, having any grievances with regard to answer key (s) even after declaration of result of TNSET- 2016, may send a written request to the Member Secretary, TNSET 2016, MotherTeresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal – 624 101 supporting his/her stand with standardbooks/literature along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 5,000/- in favour of Secretary, Mother Teresa Women’s University payable at Kodaikanal within one month from the date of declaration of result on TNSET- 2016 examination. The envelope should be marked Grievance Regarding Answer Key(s) of TNSET-2016. The request(s) so received will be placed before the Expert Committee(s) for re-examination of the answer key(s).
25. In case the answer key(s) is/are found to be incorrect, the MTWU will process the result in the light of changed key (s) and qualify the additional candidates Eligibility for Assistant Professor. However, the result of previously qualified candidates of eligibility for Assistant Professor shall remain unchanged.
26. There are no negative marks for incorrect answers.
27. The marks of all the candidates will be uploaded on Mother Teresa Women’s University TNSET website www.setexam2016.in soon after declaration of result. Besides this, Mother Teresa Women’s University will not issue any marks sheet to qualified/non qualified candidates.
28. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
29. The decision of the Mother Teresa Women’s University shall be final in all matters.
30. All legal disputes pertaining to this Test shall fall within the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu Courts only.
XI. CHECK LIST FOR FILLING THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

5. That the Person with Disability (PWD) candidates have filled the relevant column in The online application form. Only PWD candidates have to fill this column and the others have to leave it blank.
6. Whether they have kept a printout of application form (confirmation page) for their own record.

* The candidates who have completed/appearing in their Master’s Degree in Geology / Applied Geology / Geo-physics / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physical Geography / Earth Science / Earth & Atmospheric Science / Earth Science Resource Management / Marine Geology / Petroleum Geology / Geo-informatics / GIS / Applied Geochemistry / Geography& other related subjects can take TNSET examination under “Earth Sciences”.
Candidates who are appearing (Final year) in their Master Degree examination can also apply for
TNSET.
Those postgraduate students who have passed post graduate examination in more than one subject can appear for TNSET examination only in one subject at a time.
XIII. SYLLABUS :
Syllabus: Syllabus for TNSET examination will be the same as in UGC/CSIR-NET. Mother Teresa Women’s University Kodaikanal will not send the syllabus to the candidates individually. Syllabi for all SET subjects can be downloaded from UGC website www.ugc.ac.in.

XVI. INSTRUCTIONS FORUSE OF TEST BOOKLET AND ANSWER SHEET
The candidates will find the Answer Sheet placed inside the sealed Test Booklet. The seal will be broken/ opened by the candidates on the announcementby the invigilator and the Answer Sheet shall be taken out. Do not open/break the seal before the announcement. The candidates should verify the serial number and series of the Test Booklet with the serial number and series of OMR sheet. In case of any variation, the Test Booklet and OMR sheet should be immediately returned to the invigilator for the replacement with another set of same series available in the examination hall/centre.
1. Each Answer Sheet will have a pre-printed Test Booklet Code like A, B, C or D. The candidates are required to check that the Test Booklet Code pre-printed on the Answer Sheet is thesame as printed on the Test Booklet.
2. The Answer Sheet used will be of special type which will be scanned on Optical
Scanner.
The following columns of the Answer Sheet are to be filled in neatly and accurately by the candidate with Blue/Black ball point pen only. Use of pencil is strictly prohibited.

WRITING OF PARTICULARS AND RESPONSES WITH BLACK BALL POINT PEN

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR MARKING THE RESPONSES IN PEN AND PAPER BASED EXAMINATION
(i) Out of four alternatives for each question, only one circle for the correct answer is to be darkened completely with blue/black Ball Point Pen only. For example Question No. 008 in the Test Booklet reads as follows:

The correct response to this question is (1) Delhi. The candidate will locate Question No. 008 in theAnswer Sheet and darken the circle (1) as shown below:
(ii) Use Blue or Black Ball Point Pen to completely darken the appropriate circle, i.e. one circle for each entry.
The answer once marked is not liable to be changed. Use of pencil is strictlyprohibited. If anycandidate uses the pencil for darkening theanswer sheet, his/her answer sheet will be rejected.
(iii) A light or faintly darkenedcircle is a wrongmethod of marking and liable to be rejected by the
Optical Scanner. So, the circle should be properly darkened. (iv) The Correct way of marking is shown below.

(v) If the candidate does not want to attempt any question he/she should not darken the circle given against that question.
(vi)Please do notfold the Answer Sheet and do not make any stray marks on it.
(vii) ROUGH WORK
The candidate will not do any rough work on the Answer Sheet. All rough work is to be done in the
Test Booklet itself.
(viii) CHANGING AN ANSWER IS NOT ALLOWED
· The candidates must fully satisfy themselves about the accuracy of theanswer before darkening the appropriate circle as no change in answer once marked is allowed.Use of eraser or white/correction fluid on the Answer Sheet is not permissible as the Answer Sheets are machine gradable and it may lead to wrong evaluation.
· If more than one circle is darkened or if the response is marked inany other manner except the
“Correct Method” shown above,it shall be treated as wrong way of marking.
· Prior to handing over the Answer Sheet soon after the examination is over, the candidate
must sign the attendance sheetas a proof thereof.
